Operations Manager

Oversee emerging operations and join a start-up business with strong client base in Australia.

Manage relationships between existing clients, vendors in Australia and Papua New Guinea and identify new market bases.

* Tertiary engineering qualification or relevant trade qualifications and experience are required.
* 5+ years post-qualification experience working in a similar role is essential.
* Demonstrated experience with heavy mining equipment & concentrator/processing plant is necessary.
* Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Project etc) are required.
* Xero experience would be highly desirable.
* Ability to multitask and work on various projects is essential.
* Excellent verbal & written communication skills are necessary.
* Occasional travel overseas (PNG) will be required.
* Experience working overseas (PNG, Pacific Islands) is highly advantageous but not necessary.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate the implementation of occupational health and safety requirements.
2. Manage interface between key clients and their intended services.
3. Plan operational activities in terms of output quality and quantity, cost, time available, and labor requirements.
4. Identify potential business opportunities within Australia and Papua New Guinea.
5. Control production plant and quality procedures through maintenance planning, designation of operating hours, and supply of parts and tools.
6. Coordinate staff development and human resources.
7. Monitor and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
8. Supervise and direct operators, technical staff, contract, and administration staff.
9. Determine, implement, and monitor operational strategies, policies, and plans.
10. Inform other stakeholders about operations matters.
11. Maintain accurate records of daily operational activities.
12. Responsible for implementing Quality Assurance and Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Systems.
13. Convene weekly operations management meetings.
14. Control preparation of operational records and monthly reports.
15. Monitor business output and costs and adjust processes and resources to minimize costs.
16. Ensure timely monthly consolidation of transactions in Xero Accounting System and review financial performance.
17. Manage special projects by delegation to operations or technical staff.
18. Involvement in other operations of Kayop Investment Limited as required.
