Sydney Dental School (SDS)
As an academic school within the Faculty of Medicine and Health, SDS is consistently ranked as one of Australia's top dental schools. Through our delivery of integrated research, clinical training, and professional education, students benefit from the opportunity to gain experience in a diverse range of clinical facilities, to interact with dental and other health professionals, and develop an understanding of real-world challenges in oral health and healthcare.
The role will support Associate Professor Ankur Singh, Chair of Lifespan Oral Health.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
* support population oral health data acquisition and management, including population-based cohort studies, administrative datasets, and linked data sources
* strengthen team projects by providing methodological input using existing causal inference skills and developing expertise in intervention simulation modelling
* contribute to competitive grant applications through co‑drafting proposals and methods sections, and by developing skills in grant strategy, budgeting and submission processes
* drive timely delivery of research outputs by leading manuscript drafting, coordinating co‑author contributions, managing revisions, and progressing papers from analysis to submission
* prepare and deliver high‑quality presentations for academic and stakeholder audiences, and support colleagues with their presentation and dissemination activities
* contribute to team building through mentoring and independent supervision of master's students, supporting capability development for students and early career researchers
* work collaboratively with internal and external partners to conduct, publish, and disseminate high‑quality oral epidemiological research
* engage in research development and career progression activities, including preparation for post‑PhD fellowship applications and development of a research narrative, track record, and funding strategy
About you
· Masters qualification in Epidemiology. PhD candidate in relevant field (eg, oral health, dentistry)
· experience in design, analysis, and publication of oral epidemiology and population health research in collaboration with academic and policy partners
· demonstrated experience conducting systematic literature reviews, rapid reviews and meta-analyses on oral health topics
· experience performing data analysis and interpretation for population oral health and epidemiological research projects
· an emerging track record of publishing peer‑reviewed manuscripts and contributing to research outputs in oral epidemiology
· experience supporting competitive grant applications, including national research funding submissions
· experience collaborating within interdisciplinary research teams and contributing to coordinated program-wide activities such as research group meetings
· experience peer‑reviewing manuscripts for academic journals in oral health or public health
· experience presenting research findings at national and international conferences to enhance research visibility and impact
· experience supervising or co‑supervising master's students and coordinating graduate research internships
· technical proficiency in research and statistical analysis software including Stata, R and EndNote
