Details: A short-term opportunity exists to join the Civil and Regulatory Law Branch as a Senior Director (SOG-A) in the Access to Justice Team.
The Access to Justice team within the Civil and Regulatory Law Branch is responsible for developing and implementing policy, legislation and programs relating to legal assistance, courts and tribunal legal policy, as well as other key access to justice initiatives, such as leading the ACT’s implementation of the National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse Scheme. The team works collaboratively with the ACT Courts and Tribunal, key justice stakeholders (such as the ACT Bar Association and ACT Law Society) and the ACT legal assistance sector to progress access to justice reform opportunities and leads the implementation of the ACT Legal Assistance Strategy 2023-2025.
The Senior Director is responsible for the overall management of the team, including delivering on Election and Parliamentary Agreement commitments and implementation of ACT Government budget decisions, particularly through the delivery of Ministers' legislation Programs. The Senior Director will provide strategic leadership for the team including managing resources, work planning and developing team capacity to ensure timely delivery of outcomes in relation to a range of policy projects. The Senior Director will represent LPP at Executive level and Stakeholder meetings including responsibility for chairing of the ACT Legal Assistance Forum meetings.
Eligibility/ Other Requirements:
1.Experience in policy is highly desirable.
2.A law degree or other relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in appropriate field is highly desirable.
Note: This is a temporary position available 13 May to 31 May 2024. The successful applicants may be selected based on application and referee reports only. This process may also be used to fill temporary vacancies at the SOG A level across Legislation, Policy and Programs over the course of 12 months. This position is available to ACT Government officers and employees only.
