The successful person will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to support both students and staff.

About the School
Cleveland Education and Training Centre (CETC) is a Department of Education unit operating within the Cleveland Youth Detention Centre in Townsville. The Centre's catchment extends north from Rockhampton, west to the Queensland border, and includes nearby island communities off the Queensland coastline.
CETC provides education programs for young people aged 10 to 18 years who are incarcerated by the court system. As a service provider within the Detention Centre, all staff are required to adhere to safety and security protocols.
Since 2022, CETC has delivered education programs for 48 weeks each year. Staff are required to work during school holiday periods to support continuous program delivery and meet operational needs.
About the Role
You will be responsible for leading and strengthening Senior Schooling and VET outcomes at Cleveland Education and Training Centre, playing a pivotal role in shaping the school's strategic direction.
As the Head of Department, your responsibilities will include:
* Lead the school department and curriculum focus in developing and providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
* Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
* Set high standards for student and staff performance.
* Engage in lifelong learning and professional development.
* Build partnerships with students, parents, agencies, and community groups.
* Be future-oriented and strategic.
* Understand legislation and policies impacting on the school department, students and staff.
