Electoral Commission SA is expanding the team as we prepare to plan and deliver one of South Australia's largest logistical events, the 2026 state election.

In 2026, the Electoral Commission SA (ECSA) will employ a temporary election workforce of around 7,000 to assist in delivering the state election and the HR Support Officer will provide administrative and recruitment support for election workforce recruitment and the delivery of broader workforce activities for the 2026 state election.
Reporting to the Senior HR Project Officer, key responsibilities include:
* Provide administrative support for all aspects of the employment lifecycle for TEWs including recruitment, pre-employment screenings (criminal history checks), offers of employment, assignment, induction and payroll
* Provide when required, a responsive, accurate telephone helpdesk service on payroll matters, resolve basic queries and assist in identifying payroll errors and providing simple system advice where required to ensure employee payments are processed accurately and database integrity is maintained
* Coordinate compliance checks and travel and accommodation requirements for temporary election workers (TEWs), attending assessment centres, conferences, training sessions and/or workshops
* Create, update and maintain HR records and databases, complying with records management processes, to ensure information is accurate, stored correctly, and accessible
* Monitor employment mailboxes and responding to HR and payroll queries from TEWs in a timely and professional manner, escalating as required.
Applications are encouraged from individuals with experience in undertaking a variety of HR-related administrative tasks, project-based activities and experience coordinating all aspects of the employment lifecycle within the SA public sector.
High level written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work under general direction, along with the ability to handle high volumes of work, multitask and manage competing priorities and deadlines in a busy environment, whilst dealing with conflicting demands is essential to this role.
Special Conditions
* This role is offered on a temporary basis up to 29 May 2026
* In order not to compromise the strict neutrality of the Commission, no person who is active in political affairs or intends to carry on this activity may be an employee
* Employment is dependent upon a Criminal history check that the Commission finds satisfactory
* Extensive out of normal working hours duty may be required during the period of an election
* Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Remuneration
* ASO3 - $67,589 to $72,033 per annum
