Studio Empire Performing Arts Centre (SEPAC) is a fast-growing performing arts hub on the Gold Coast, offering musical theatre, private music tuition, band programs and a full-time performing arts college.
We have recently launched our Dance Department and are now seeking an experienced, driven and visionary Head of Dance to take charge of the department and lead its growth.
This is a leadership and growth-focused role, not simply a teaching position.
About the Role
Our dance program is in its early stages, and this position is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to shape, structure and expand the department from the ground up.
The Head of Dance will:
* Take full ownership of the Dance Department
* Develop and implement curriculum and progression pathways
* Grow enrolments and build the dance community
* Establish standards of excellence across all classes
* Mentor and oversee dance teaching staff
* Choreograph for competitions and showcases
* Contribute to marketing and promotional initiatives for the department
This role is ideal for someone entrepreneurial who is excited by building and leading a growing service.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all dance programming
* Set technical standards and student expectations
* Oversee staff recruitment, mentoring and performance
* Structure timetables and class offerings strategically
* Drive retention and department growth
* Maintain strong and professional communication with families
* Collaborate with Directors on long-term vision and expansion
The Ideal Candidate
You will:
* Have extensive dance training across multiple styles
* Hold relevant teaching qualifications
* Have leadership experience within a studio environment
* Be confident making decisions and taking initiative
* Have strong organisational and communication skills
* Be passionate about building confident, technically strong dancers
* Be committed to long-term growth
A Blue Card (or willingness to obtain one) is essential.
