About the Role:
This role is responsible for planning, executing, and in-house seismic model building. This includes: imaging projects; provide support during the application of seismic processing and imaging technologies at the highest technical level, both internally and externally;manage and deliverdeliver seismic processing and imaging projects for all business units across exploration, appraisal, development, production, and other business lines as required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Plan, execute, and deliver in-house seismic model building and imaging projects for internal customers across the business.
* Assess the quality of legacy seismic datasets and propose solutions for their improvement.
* Frame and cost up in-house seismic model building and imaging projects.
* Mature and optimise workflows for delivering in-house seismic imaging solutions.
* Contribute towards the establishment of a robust platform (including CI/CD practices) for transitioning new processes/tools/algorithms from development into production.
* Interface with the Engineering & Technology group and actively support the research and development of novel approaches to seismic imaging and inversion.
* Interface with Woodside's research partners in the seismic imaging and inversion space.
* Support management of geophysical data quality from acquisition through processing.
* Support management of processing/re-processing projects at vendors (tendering, invoicing, ensuring adherence to timelines and required data quality).
* Support QC for and QA of processing/re-processing projects at vendors.
* Support multi-client data licensing.
* Provide input into survey design for new seismic acquisitions.
* Actively participate in the Geophysics Community of Practice.
* Create and maintain best practices in the application of geophysical techniques and technologies.
* Provide expert advice and guidance with respect to geophysics within the Seismic & Survey Operations team and to other technical teams across all Woodside assets.
Skills & Experience:
* A minimum of ten years working in seismic imaging and data processing is strongly preferred.
* Experience in project management for seismic imaging
* Experience in high-performance computing, cloud computing, scientific programming (Python as a minimum; ideally FORTRAN, C, and MATLAB) and developing seismic processing/imaging algorithms.
* Experience working in a research environment and with open-source tools.
* Experience using wave-equation-based seismic inversion/imaging tools (in particular, FWI).
* Experience working with fibre-optic strain-rate data considered a plus.
