**About the team**:
The Portfolio Appointments, Governance and Innovation Support section handles corporate governance. This includes secretariat and strategic support for the Executive Board and its sub-committees. The team is also responsible for providing secretariat services, and related duties, to committees of Industry, Innovation and Science Australia (IISA).
The section ensures key departmental decisions are made by the right people, at the right time and that these decisions are recorded appropriately. This enables the Secretary, as the Accountable Authority to fulfil their obligations under various legislative instruments, APS and departmental policies.
Portfolio Appointments, Governance and Innovation Support Secretariats team within the Ministerial Liaison and Governance branch is the central point of contact for the department on all portfolio appointments related activities. The team provides advice and support to the department and its ministerial offices for statutory and non-statutory appointments to portfolio boards and committees.
The Portfolio Appointments, Governance and Innovation Support section are looking to fill roles at the following levels:

**Assistant Manager, Executive Level 1 (Appointments Portfolio)**
- Have experience in management appointments or providing secretariat to a government board or committee or a willingness to learn

- An understanding of parliamentary and cabinet process, particularly in the engagement with ministerial offices and other Government agencies or a willingness to learn

**What you will do**:
As the Assistant Manager, you will:
- coordinate and work closely with policy areas and secretariats across the department to ensure consistent and compliant processes for appointments to the portfolio boards and committees;
- advise on statutory and non-statutory appointments and engagements policies and procedures including appointments to an established or a new committee;
- Oversee the quality and accuracy of team work outputs and reporting including Senate Order 15 and Gender Balance reporting;
- manage the register of portfolio appointments and engagements;
- liaise with the Remuneration Tribunal Secretariat about remuneration relevant to certain appointments and advise secretariats and policy areas;
- co-ordinate and quality assure portfolio reporting on appointments and vacancies;
- maintain an awareness of new and emerging trends in government appointments and related governance matters, considering implications for the department and portfolio agencies;
- liaise and build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders; and
- Manage a small team and contribute to section management as required.
As a Committee Manager you will have numerous key duties including:
- Manage the coordination, logistics and engagement of Departmental high-level committees and/or IISA committees.
- Work across the team to ensure all committees are supported to a consistently high standard.
