The services available in Lithgow hospital include Domiciliary care unit, Emergency department, Geriatric assessment unit, Obstetric services, Paediatric service, Drug and Alcohol unit.
An opportunity has become available to join our Nursing Leadership and Administration team as the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services. The role will lead the governance of clinical practice and patient care across the facility. In this senior role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑ and family‑centred care, while overseeing the financial, organisational, physical and human resource needs of the Nursing and Midwifery service. As a key member of the executive team, you will contribute to all aspects of hospital and service planning.
The position also serves as the Hospital Disaster Controller for internal and external emergencies, working closely with the Health Service Functional Area Controller. A strong commitment to advocacy is essential, with the role promoting consumer involvement in care and supporting staff across the organisation. The successful incumbent will collaborate with District Executive and Senior Managers to implement and advance facility and organisational strategic and business plans.

What you will bring to the role
* Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners' Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with relevant post graduate qualifications in health services management or equivalent.
* Extensive experience in leadership and management within a health care setting at a senior management level
* Demonstrated ability to manage and lead the financial resources and nursing/midwifery workforce requirements (including profile management) in a complex environment within industrial frameworks and organisational guidelines to provide safe, compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive.
* Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, advocacy, analytical and conceptual skills.
* Demonstrated ability to lead the implementation of evidence based best practice and contemporary models of care within nursing/midwifery services
* Comprehensive knowledge of and commitment to health system safety and quality, risk management, change management, innovation, professional practice development and research.
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the effective and meaningful engagement of clinicians in the decision making process that impact on positive patient outcomes.
* Demonstrated extensive leadership using contemporary change management methodologies and an understanding of current issues impacting on the nursing profession.
