Maintenance Planning Manager (Operational Readiness)

Role Purpose
Orange Mining is seeking a Maintenance Planning Manager (Operational Readiness) to stand up and lead the owner‑mining maintenance planning function for one of our key clients prior to Equipment Deliver Q2 2026 and support transition into production.
This role will:
Deploy AMT and supporting CMMS/ERP workflows.
Establish best‑practice job planning, scheduling, and asset management foundations.
Build an in‑house planning capability capable of sustaining performance from commissioning through ramp‑up to steady‑state operations; Building a team of planners and systems.
Ensure the mine starts with clean data, disciplined processes, and a fully prepared team to hit budgets and mechanical availability KPI's.
Candidate Profile
You will thrive in this role if you are:
An execution-focused self-starter with hands‑on experience building planning systems and scaling teams.
Strong in project management, with demonstrable schedule control, cost discipline, and risk management.
Experience with RPM Global AMT and has done deployments in the past - master data, job planning, materials management, and reliability principles .
Experienced in open‑pit mining or heavy mobile‑fleet industries, from pre‑ops through operations.
Confident managing OEM/vendor interfaces and driving accountability against contract KPIs. (Existing, Tier 1, highly developed parts supply contract with Full VMI)
A clear, practical communicator who can coach, standardise, and uplift capability on site.
Experience Working in West Africa, cross culture and bi‑lingual French is a plus (But not Mandatory)
Minimum Site Travel ~12 weeks over 12 months (for AMT deployment & training) Start Date / Term Immediate – 12-month contract
Key Responsibilities
Lead deployment of AMT and integrated CMMS/ERP workflows, including asset registers, job plans, and work order processes.
Establish the maintenance planning function, procedures, and standards; train planners, supervisors, and site leaders.
Build and manage maintenance budgets, KPI frameworks, and monthly performance reporting.
Develop and optimise fleet maintenance strategies and task libraries in collaboration with OEMs and site stakeholders.
Define BOMs and critical spares, and coordinate with SCM/warehouse to ensure stock readiness before start‑up.
Specify and support commissioning of workshops, tooling, and special equipment aligned to maintenance strategies.
Implement condition monitoring (oil analysis, telematics, inspections) and embed defect detection and escalation.
Own maintenance safety fundamentals: SWIs, LOTO/isolation, and integration with permits and work packs.
Run a disciplined planning & scheduling cycle (270 day look‑ahead, weekly schedules, backlog control).
Coordinate commissioning and early‑life maintenance, including first services
Manage OEM/vendor interfaces and performance against contract KPIs and turnaround targets.
Prepare and execute a structured handover to the owner's maintenance team, including data, procedures, and training records.
Embed 5S standards across PM bays, tooling areas, and lube facilities to improve safety, efficiency, and defect detection
Lead weekly 5S audits and drive corrective actions to maintain clean, organised, and visually managed work areas.
Implement Kaizen practices to reduce PM duration, variability, and waste in service workflows.
Standardise service tooling, layouts, job packs, and inspection criteria to lift consistency and first‑time‑fix rates.
Partner with planners and supervisors to continually refine PM strategies, kitting, and execution processes.
