* Pro Rata amount of $93,453- $105,760 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 4-5 dependent on skills and experience ) + Superannuation

Your new role
Are you a strategic communicator with a flair for storytelling, media engagement, and community connection? Rockhampton Regional Council is seeking a dynamic professional to join its Media Team in a fixed-term capacity through to February 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-performing team and gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, impactful environment.
In this role, you will provide strategic media and communications support to Councillors, manage daily media messaging, and develop compelling content across various platforms. Your work will help shape public perception and strengthen community engagement.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

* Demonstrated knowledge of the role of communications in a corporate and politically sensitive environment.
* Ability to build effective and collaborative relationships with journalists, other levels of Government and external stakeholders;
* Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills and experience in applying these to improve standards of communication;
* Team player with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; and
* Knowledge and understanding of emerging media distribution platforms.
