Youth Justice

· Temporary Part time (21 hoursper week) up to 12 months

· Psychologist, Salary ($79,592 - $139,824 pro rata), plus employer'scontribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

Youth Justice is looking for an innovativeand dynamic Provisional Psychologist or Clinical Psychology Registrar to joinour Psychology and Allied Health Services team in the Central and Far WestYouth Justice Teams located in Dubbo NSW. Working as part of a team you will:

· Advocatefor the psychosocial health needs ofAboriginal Young people, their families and community in a holistic andculturally sound manner.

· Operate as a member of amulti-disciplinary team, delivering psychological assessment, intervention, andtherapeutic services.

· Provide a consultancy serviceto staff regarding the psychological needs of Youth Justice clients withincustodial and community locations, as well as advice to statutory authoritiessuch as the Parole Board.

What you'll do

You will be part of a team of experienced Youth JusticePsychologists reporting to a Clinical Manager, providing psychological supportwithin the Community and Custody setting. In your role you will provide thefollowing

· Undertake psychological assessment, intervention, anddeliver therapeutic services or programs to young people who offend, includingthose who sexually offend.

· Create holistic treatmentplans to support the needs of young people, their families and community.

· Assist in the formulation and review of individual Risk -Needs - Responsivity based case plans for the management and supervision ofyoung people on remand or sentenced to a custodial or community order.

· Engage with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations in arespectful and collaborative manner.

· Liaise with a range ofprofessionals including Aboriginal Caseworkers, Aboriginal Practice Officers,the YJNSW Aboriginal Strategic and Co-ordination Unit, Koori Children's Court,Psychiatrists, Registered Nurses and Aboriginal and Torres Strait IslanderHealth Workers.

· Deliver training to staff, including Youth JusticeCaseworkers, in the screening, identification and support of young people withmental health problems, intellectual disability or cognitive impairment.

· Maintain confidential documentation, including electronicCase Notes on Client Information Management System, in accordance withdepartmental policies, APS guidelines on record keeping and professionalethics.

· Prepare reports, advice, and consultation to statutoryauthorities such as Children's Courts, the Serious Young Offenders ReviewPanel, State Parole Authority, and Mental Health Review Tribunal.

· Be dynamic andable to think on their feet.

· Responsive toindividual needs and situations.

What we're looking for

· Current provisional orfull registration (Clinical Psychology registrar) with the Psychology Board ofAustralia:

· A current Drivers'Licence with ability and willingness to travel throughout NSW

· Current NSW Workingwith Children Check clearance.

As an Identified role, this role is open only to Aboriginal and/orTorres Strait Islander persons, Australia's First Nations people.
