**About the role**:
In this role you will be:
- Caring for children and young people who can no longer live at home due to trauma, family concerns, abuse and/or neglect
- Providing a nurturing and homely environment that provides a sense of safety, structure, acceptance and security
- Ensuring that children and young people's rights and interests are protected
- Acting as an effective role model and carer
- Supporting children and young people to maintain links with their family, culture and community
- Supporting young people to engage and attend a day program, activities and appointments
- Working as part of a team to maintain routines, structure and provide consistent care.
**Responsibilities and Duties**:
- Assist client in undertaking a range of activities of daily living including
- medication reminders, personal & self-care, domestic duties, cleaning, food preparation & mealtime assistance, dressing & maintenance of personal hygiene and community access
- Satisfactory client engagement and interaction
- Follow established practices, procedures, care plans and care directions
- Fill progress notes and other relevant care documents for each care and support provision
- Undertake in person, online and other training as directed
- Always ensure you follow compliance requirements as per guidance. regularly checking that you follow best work practices and documentation
- Maintain the highest level of professional integrity and ensure the privacy and confidentiality of client information
- Ensure all support work practice is at the highest quality standard
- Write detailed client notes
- Any other duties as directed from time to time.
**Essential Criteria -**
- Behavioural management knowledge and experience
- Experience with difficult/behavioural clients and the ability to adapt and manage challenging situations
- Able to solving challenges and complex issues in high-volume situations
- Experience with trauma informed clients, in Child Youth and Families work
- Client Protection knowledge or experience and be willing to work with children and young people while still setting boundaries
- Risk management
- Able to work adaptable fortnightly roster and be a natural team player and work well with a close team
- Able to liaise with different stakeholders (families, police, cp, after-hours)
- Maintaining positivity and commitment even after setbacks.
**Experience**:
- Have as least one 1 year of full-time work experience undertaken in Australia in any of the following areas: Health/Aged Care/Disability Services. (required)
**Qualifications**:
- Certificate IV Child, Youth and Family Intervention (or equivalent): Individual Support/ Aged Care/ Disability/ Nursing. At least one year of relevant experience.
**Licence/Certifications**:
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate or the ability to obtain one (required)
- Satisfactory Working with Children's Check (Employee) or the ability to obtain one (Essential)
- Satisfactory National Police Check for 'Employment in Disability' (issued less than 1 year ago) (not required if you hold a valid NDIS screening clearance) (preferred)
- Current Driver's License, your own car and comprehensive/third party insurance (preferred)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check ID or the ability to obtain one (required)
- Proof of COVID Vaccination certificate including booster (required)
