About The Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Service

VicFAS, based at Monash Children's Hospital, is a specialist statewide service providing multidisciplinary assessment and diagnosis for children (3-10 years) affected by prenatal alcohol exposure. Children seen by VicFAS often present with complex developmental, neurological and behavioural challenges, and may also experience significant psychosocial factors, including Out of Home Care. VicFAS delivers clinical assessments, post‑diagnosis support for referring paediatricians, and training for paediatricians, psychologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and social workers. The team includes a Clinic Coordinator, Neuropsychologist, Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Social Worker, and is led by the Head of Developmental and Community Paediatrics.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a VicFAS Regional Navigator to join the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Service at Monash Children's Hospital, based at Barwon Health.

This fixed-term, part-time role (0.4 EFT until July 2027) plays a critical part in improving access to assessment and support for children affected by prenatal alcohol exposure across regional Victoria. Working as part of the broader VicFAS multidisciplinary team, you will use your local knowledge to strengthen referral pathways, coordinate assessments and support children, families and schools across your region.

Key Responsibilities will include:

* Lead and strengthen regional referral pathways for children at risk of FASD
* Coordinate operational requirements for multidisciplinary assessments
* Participate in regional diagnostic clinics (minimum twice per year)
* Support and coordinate local assessments within existing health and education services
* Contribute to feedback sessions with families, carers and schools
* Build strong relationships with local health, education and community services
* Support paediatricians and clinicians with post-diagnosis implementation of recommendations

About You

You bring strong paediatric experience and a passion for improving outcomes for children with complex developmental, neurological and behavioural needs, particularly in the context of social complexity.

Essential requirements:

* Extensive experience in paediatric allied health, psychology or education
* Relevant tertiary qualification and current professional registration/accreditation
* Experience supporting children and families impacted by complex social issues, including child protection
* Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
* Current driver's licence
