Special Needs Teacher

As a dedicated and passionate educator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with intellectual disabilities at our Melbourne-based school.
\
The primary focus of this role is on planning, preparing and delivering engaging programs to achieve specific student outcomes. You will engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and enhance their learning experiences.
\
You will work closely with students who have intellectual disabilities and develop strategies to support their learning in the foundation years.
\
This role requires demonstrated experience in responding to student learning needs, planning for and implementing high-impact teaching strategies, monitoring and assessing student learning, and using data to inform teaching practice.
\
You will also be responsible for supervising and training student teachers, providing expert advice on professional learning, and contributing to the development and implementation of school policies and priorities.
\
In addition to your teaching responsibilities, you may be required to undertake other duties as determined by the School Principal, such as participating in project teams and co-curricular activities.
\
Key Responsibilities:
\
* Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students
* Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school
* Undertaking other classroom teaching-related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal
* Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings and staff professional development
\
Essential Skills and Qualifications:

* Demonstrated knowledge of relevant curriculum, including literacy and numeracy skills
* Experience in responding to student learning needs
* Ability to plan and implement high-impact teaching strategies
* Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning
* Interpersonal and communication skills
* Experience in working with students with intellectual disabilities
