**About the role**
An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated and enthusiastic procurement and contract management professional to join the Australian National University's Procurement and Contract Office (UPCO).
Reporting to the Chief Procurement Officer, the position will work closely with the Chief Information Security Office (CISO), Information Technology Services (ITS), Finance and Business Services (F&BS), the ANU Legal Office and a range of key stakeholders within Colleges and Service Divisions as well as external vendors, suppliers and strategic partners.
The Category Manager (IT) is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies for the Information Technology and Security category to meet the Universities current and emergent requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help to determine category strategy and oversee procurement events, supporting the operational cyber security of the University.
- Lead technology deals to deliver value and mitigate risk
- Provide strategic advice to the Technology Leadership Team on commercial and supplier issues
- Support the development of management capabilities and know-how
- Partner with leaders to provide incisive reporting, recommended improvements and establish robust governance across function
Upcoming Major projects include:
- Upgrading the University's technology network, with multiple large scale procurement activities required, to a significantly higher level of protection (Zero Trust)
- Replacing the Firewall infrastructure at the University.
- Other Cyber and security related procurement activities, services, hardware, software, solutions and professional services as required.
**About you**
To be successful in this role you will require:
- Exposure to Information Technology procurement required, further knowledge of **information security** desirable
- High calibre communication, engagement and planning skills
- Extensive procurement and contract management experience
- A genuine commitment to providing value for money outcomes
- Demonstrated analytical skills, ability to work to tight deadlines and problem solve effectively
