Your Role as a Clinical Nurse The Clinical Nurse provides advanced clinical oversight and ensures compliance across all areas of resident care in accordance with organisational policies, legislative requirements and professional standards. The role delivers high-level clinical leadership, advice, education and supervision to Level 1 Registered Nurses and Disability Support Workers, ensuring safe, contemporary and person-centred care. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for assessing residents' care needs, developing and evaluating care strategies, overseeing care planning and documentation, and supporting high-quality clinical outcomes that enhance residents' quality of life. You will empower individuals to live more independently, safely and meaningfully by:
* Upholding and role-modelling the highest standards of privacy, dignity, confidentiality and ethical practice, ensuring care is inclusive, culturally safe and responsive to the diverse needs, abilities and choices of SDA residents.
* Providing advanced clinical leadership and oversight, actively listening to residents and their support networks, and ensuring individual goals, preferences, risks and supports are accurately assessed, documented and embedded into person-centred support plans in line with NDIS principles.
* Leading clear, compassionate and professional communication with residents, families, guardians, allied health professionals and external stakeholders to support informed decision-making, continuity of care and positive participant experience.
* Conducting and overseeing comprehensive holistic assessments, care planning, implementation and review using a biopsychosocial framework to maximise independence, health, wellbeing and safety, including complex health needs and palliative or end-of-life support where required.
* Providing clinical supervision, coaching and mentoring to Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Disability Support Workers, Assistants in Nursing and Personal Care Workers, and acting as a role model for contemporary, evidence-based and rights-focused practice.
* Maintaining and developing advanced clinical expertise across relevant specialty areas including disability nursing, SDA, young adults, complex and high-intensity supports, palliative care, pain management, wound care and infection prevention and control.
* Prioritising and coordinating clinical workload safely and effectively, ensuring clinical governance, risk management and continuity of care, and working collaboratively with CNs/CNCs, Service Managers and operational leaders to investigate and manage incidents, complaints and clinical issues in accordance with organisational policy and NDIS Quality and Safeguards requirements.
What We're Looking For We are seeking a senior Registered Nurse with strong clinical leadership experience and a commitment to excellence in Disability Support Care. The successful candidate will have:
* Current APHRA registration with relevant post-registration qualifications or equivalent senior nursing experience.
* Advanced clinical expertise with a strong understanding of contemporary nursing practice, care documentation, and quality standards.
* Demonstrated leadership capability, including the ability to drive continuous improvement, meet SDA accreditation requirements, and lead significant clinical and administrative initiatives.
* Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and engage effectively with residents, families, and health professionals.
* Proven ability to work autonomously, supervise and mentor staff, and contribute to clinical governance and service improvement.
* Strong computer literacy and a willingness to work in accordance with WMQ policies, legislative requirements, and compliance obligations, including travel as required.
