Retail Banking Services (RBS) is the public face of CommBank, delivering a seamless banking experience for the future, to our 10 million + personal and small business customers. We offer market-leading products and services, supported by some of the world’s best systems and processes. Within RBS, the Consumer Finance Domain is responsible for end-to-end P&L management, product design, credit risk, acquisition & portfolio management and customer experience for Consumer Spending and Consumer Lending.
The Consumer Spending Crew has end-to-end responsibility for the Commonwealth Bank retail Credit Cards and our key consumer spending propositions. We consist of squads that look after the development of the consumer spending products, acquisition, the growth of our portfolio, our loyalty program and end-to-end process improvement.
Within the Value Card Product stream, the StepPay squad is accountable for the end-to-end delivery and ongoing management of CommBank’s Buy Now Pay Later capability. This includes feature development, customer journey optimisation, regulatory change delivery, and risk and control uplift across live StepPay journeys. The squad also plays a key role in evolving StepPay capabilities so they can be reused across multiple products and customer journeys across the bank.

As the Senior Product Manager for StepPay, you will lead the end-to-end product strategy, prioritisation, and delivery of the StepPay capability. You will be accountable for balancing customer outcomes, regulatory obligations, and commercial objectives, while ensuring sustainable and predictable delivery.
You will work closely with Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and dependent teams to translate customer needs, regulatory requirements, and strategic intent into clear priorities and measurable outcomes.
What You’ll Drive
Customer-led feature uplift – Identify, prioritise and deliver product features and enhancements that resolve customer and operational breakpoints across StepPay journeys, using insights, complaints and performance data. End-to-end delivery ownership – Own delivery from discovery through to launch, balancing feature uplift with regulatory change, risk remediation and operational improvements. Cross-functional execution – Work closely with Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal and dependent teams to shape solutions, manage dependencies and deliver outcomes efficiently. Risk and regulatory delivery – Partner with Risk and Compliance to embed controls into feature design and ensure regulatory obligations are met. Scaling StepPay capabilities – Support the expansion of StepPay capabilities so they can be reused across multiple products, channels and customer journeys across the bank.
We’re looking for
Significant experience as a Product Manager or Senior Product Manager, ideally within financial services, payments or credit. Proven ability to deliver complex product change in regulated environments. Strong understanding of risk management, compliance and governance expectations. Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional delivery and influencing senior stakeholders. Strong analytical capability, with confidence using data and insights to inform prioritisation and decisions. A strong interest in the instalments and flexible payments landscape, including how these solutions can be used responsibly to deliver better customer outcomes.
