Engineering Leadership Opportunity

Defence is expanding, and with the evolving playing field of war, now is the perfect time to support our nation's warfighter and protect our country.

Our engineering team is currently seeking a seasoned leader to oversee a specialist engineering and technical team responsible for supporting design, development, configuration, and deployment of maritime equipment and services for various defence and commercial contracts.

The role is permanent full-time with a dynamic work environment, opportunities for growth, and collaboration with expert teams.

Key Accountabilities:

* Lead the Engineering department in line with strategic objectives, governance frameworks, and regulatory compliance.
* Manage the Engineering team, including budgeting, resourcing, and partnerships, to ensure capability aligns with business needs.
* Oversee the delivery of engineering outcomes, ensuring solutions meet requirements across safety, quality, operability, supportability, and cost.
* Control the engineering execution budget and schedule, ensuring all deliverables are completed within scope, time, and cost constraints.
* Maintain key departmental reports including schedules, capacity planning, performance metrics, and corrective actions to drive accountability.
* Provide technical leadership and foster a culture of continuous improvement, Lean principles, and compliance with evolving standards and regulations.

Requirements:

* Relevant engineering degree qualification.
* Hold an Engineering Australia Registration (or equivalent).
* Demonstrated experience in a technical management role within the Subsea, Defence or Maritime sector.
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor.
* Strong understanding of product design and/or design integration of engineering systems.
* Experienced in technical risk and mitigation management.
* Experience setting and delivering medium and long term strategy, budget and resource plans - Possess strong business and commercial acumen.

Criteria:

Must be an Australian Citizen. Ideally have a current or reinstatable Defence clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Australian Security Clearance.
* Lean training desirable but not essential.
