Our Company

Ecocene is one of Australia\'s longest established environmental consultancies with over 30 years of continuous experience in Western Australia. We provide a comprehensive range of environmental services to clients in the mining, energy, infrastructure, government and utilities sectors. We employ more than 90 professional environmental staff based out of offices in Perth and Margaret River.

With key service areas as Biodiversity, Geospatial, Mine Closure, Rehabilitation and Weed Management, we pride ourselves on being a knowledgeable team with significant on-ground, technical experience.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in ecological and environmental consulting to support the delivery and growth of Ecocene\'s biodiversity services.

This role is ideally suited to a senior ecologist with extensive experience project managing complex ecological surveys, who is ready to take the next step into a broader leadership and management position.

If you\'re seeking a change or want to take the next step in your career, we will invest in your development with diverse opportunities, mentoring and a great team environment. The role requires a strong balance of hands-on project management and people leadership, with responsibility for mentoring staff, coordinating workloads, liaising with clients, and supporting continuous improvement across project systems and processes. You will be trusted to manage multiple projects concurrently and act as a key escalation point for technical, resourcing and delivery matters.

This position offers the opportunity to influence how large-scale and multidisciplinary ecological surveys are planned and delivered while contributing to business development, bid strategy and organisational performance. You can put your existing skills to use and grow in other areas as you work alongside our highly regarded and knowledgeable team.

To be considered for this role, you must meet these essential criteria:

* A Bachelor\'s degree or higher in Natural Resource Management, Biological and/or Environmental Science, Botany or Zoological Sciences
* Experience in environmental studies, investigations, monitoring and/or research
* Prior experience in the management and directing of projects, personnel and teams
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong focus on health and safety
* Consulting experience

The Team

We are a high-performing, quality-driven team that takes pride in delivering our work to a consistently high standard. Attention to detail matters to us, and it shows in everything we do.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our people are our top priorities. Our strong safety culture has been shaped through years of experience working in the mining and resources sector and is underpinned by open communication, mutual support and respect for our colleagues.

Collaboration is central to how we work. Our team supports one another and works closely with inhouse Data Scientists, GIS Analysts and Remote Sensing Analysts to access specialist expertise when needed. Each project is supported by a dedicated Project Coordinator who manages logistics, allowing our Botanists and Zoologists to focus on delivering high-quality science.

We invest in our people through ongoing, relevant inhouse training and access to a professional development fund. Our team is made up of passionate, respectful and professional individuals who are always looking to improve. Accountability is demonstrated at every level, and our success is driven by strong teamwork rather than individual performance alone.

Why Join Ecocene?

We are a Climate Active certified, carbon-neutral company that actively makes a nature-positive difference.

We are focused on creating and maintaining an enjoyable and rewarding work culture.

Our office is located in the heart of East Perth, surrounded by parks, restaurants, public transport and great coffee.

We offer a competitive salary and provide flexible working arrangements and work closely with our team members to find a work-from-home/work-from-office balance that best suits their needs. Ecocene recognises the importance of a healthy work/life balance and employs flexible start times. Employees also have access to our company time off benefit (CTOB) system which allows for flexibility in work hours and more time for you to rest/recharge/play outside of work.

We understand that our staff are our greatest assets. To help our team members realise and maximise their potential, Ecocene provides strong support (technical and wellbeing), professional development opportunities (annual PD time and financial allowance) and structured and constant in-house training to ensure your continued professional growth. Further to this, our senior leadership group are always accessible for a chat and Ecocene offers a 24/7 employee assistance program for its staff and their families.
