Primary objective
The Executive Officer, Pastoral Land Board, provides high-level strategic research, advice and coordination to support the
Director, Pastoral Lease Management, and the Pastoral Land Board. The role delivers executive and secretariat services to
enable the Board to effectively discharge its statutory functions under the Pastoral Land Act 1992, including advising and
reporting to the Minister and supporting the regulation of sustainable development across the pastoral estate.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high-level executive and secretariat services to the Pastoral Land Board, ensuring compliance with the Pastoral
Land Act 1992, Native Title Act 1993 (Cth), Assembly Members and Statutory Officers (Remuneration and Other Entitlements)
Act 2006 and Financial Management Act 1995, and supporting the Board to effectively discharge its statutory functions.
1. Undertake complex research, analysis and reporting, and provide policy and procedural advice to the Pastoral Land Board
and associated working groups to support informed decision-making and sound governance.
1. Act as the principal liaison point between the Pastoral Land Board, the Department, the responsible Minister, other
government agencies, industry stakeholders, pastoral lessees and the broader community, building effective relationships
and facilitating collaboration on matters relating to pastoral land administration and regulation.
1. In conjunction with the Director, coordinate and manage executive support functions for the Pastoral Land Board,
including planning and delivery of Board meetings, coordination of travel and associated logistics, and the preparation,
quality assurance and management of Ministerial and Board correspondence and briefings.
1. Lead the preparation and coordination of high-quality documentation, submissions and reports to support the
Department and the Pastoral Land Board in the assessment and determination of applications relating to sustainable
development across the pastoral estate.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven ability providing high-quality executive or secretariat support, preferably to boards, committees or senior
decision-makers, including coordinating meetings, agendas, papers, travel and associated logistics.
2. Demonstrated experience to interpret and apply legislation, policy or governance frameworks, undertake research and
analysis, and provide clear, practical advice and solutions to complex or sensitive issues.
3. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare accurate and professional
correspondence, briefs and reports, explain complex matters clearly, and engage effectively with diver stakeholders.
4. Proven ability to plan and organise work in a dynamic environment, including managing competing priorities, working to
tight deadlines, adapting to change and maintaining performance under pressure.
5. Strong digital capability, with experience using common office software and the ability to work effectively in tailored
databases and systems to manage information, support reporting and coordinate activities.
6. Well-developed professional qualities, including sound judgement, discretion and integrity, the ability to handle
confidential information appropriately, and the capacity to work collaboratively and constructively within a small team.
