Job Overview
This role involves providing legal counsel to support commercial business operations. Key areas of focus include IT contract law, privacy law, telecommunications law, compliance, and risk management. The successful candidate will draft and review contracts, provide advice on regulatory matters, and ensure the organisation remains compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Drafting and reviewing IT service and supply contracts, distribution agreements, software implementation agreements, IT licence agreements, professional services agreements, hardware agreements, teaming agreements, general terms and conditions, leases, intellectual property issues, competition and consumer law issues, and tender reviews.
* Providing legal documentation and advising management on appropriate courses of action.
* Advising on and representing the organisation in response to legal disputes, actions, audits, inquiries, or investigations as necessary.
* Ensuring the organisation is informed of new or proposed legislation, updating terms and conditions, and processes to accommodate regulatory changes and ensure compliance.
Compliance and Risk Management
* Assisting in analysing the organisation's legal and corporate risk and offering alternatives and recommendations to manage and minimise risk.
* Assisting with the establishment, coordination, and maintenance of legislative, regulatory, contractual, and other compliance processes, procedures, and records as required.
* Conducting periodic compliance risk assessments and assisting in developing mitigation plans.
* Developing and reviewing policies and practices to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations relating to activities and operations of the business.
* Advising, reviewing, and assisting on training, auditing, and monitoring activities and regulatory reporting related to the business to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Contract Administration
* Maintaining contract archives.
* Updating precedent documents, agreements, standard terms and conditions, standard form contracts, and compliance documentation.
* Monitoring and maintaining compliance obligations.
* Performing any other legal, compliance, and related administrative work as needed.
