Overview
In this role you will design, co-ordinate, facilitate and evaluate vocational training programs and related activities to meet the needs of the female population within the correctional facility, thereby contributing to increased levels of community safety and reduced recidivism.
Requirements
Within the context of the role accountabilities described in About the Role, the most suitable applicant will demonstrate their applied knowledge, skills and experiences against these essential role requirements of the Individual Contributor leadership stream:
* Knowledge of the unique needs of women in the criminal justice system, especially First Nations women (including intersectional issues of mental health and wellbeing, trauma, domestic and family violence, substance issues, and parenting responsibilities etc).
* Experience in the design, delivery and review of vocational education training programs to individuals and groups
* Excellent presentation skills with the ability to think on your feet when facilitating
* Confident facilitator with demonstrated capability to successfully engage a diverse audience of adult women learners to help cement knowledge transfer and application
* Knowledge of adult learning principles with the ability to work with individuals with learning difficulties
* Demonstrated ability to assess the vocational education and training needs of women clients as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
* Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) negotiation and conflict resolution skills and the ability to build and maintain working relationships with a group of diverse stakeholders including staff, community groups and visitors
* Knowledge and application of legislation, policies and procedures including Workplace Health and Safety
