Job Description
As our Head of Engineering, you'll be both a player-coach leading a talented team of engineers working across our market-leading investment platforms. This role combines hands-on development with team leadership, offering the opportunity to shape the technology behind two of Australia's most popular investing websites.
You'll drive technical strategy, promote best practices, and play a key role in improving our platforms and internal systems. Equally important, you'll mentor and support your team while scaling it—fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment where everyone is empowered to excel.
In This Role, You'll
Help architect and develop the next generation of Australia's most visited stock market platform, Market Index, along with Livewire, our rapidly growing investor content platform.
Lead the re-platforming of legacy systems onto modern, scalable infrastructure using appropriate tools.
Build and shape high-performance APIs, integrated frontend systems, and scalable backend services to support millions of investor interactions each month.
Work on real-world applications of AI and LLMs for investment data extraction, content summarisation, and automation.
Mentor and lead engineers, contribute to technical leadership, and help define standards and strategy within a lean, impactful team.
Collaborate closely with product and design teams to influence product direction and shape the roadmap.
Who Are We Looking For?
A lead/principal/head of full-stack engineering with strong hands-on experience in, TypeScript/JavaScript, and frontend frameworks— experience preferred, but React or similar is acceptable.
Experience with Cloud/AWS is essential for managing our infrastructure.
An aspiring technical leader eager to grow into a Head of Engineering role, taking ownership of strategic and technical decisions.
A pragmatic problem solver who prefers clean, elegant solutions over over-engineering.
An engineer thriving in a fast-paced, product-focused environment with a genuine interest in building tools for investors.
Bonus points for experience in fintech, data-rich environments, or high-growth product teams.
