About the Role
The Coordinator – Water provides operational coordination, technical expertise, and leadership within the Engineering team to ensure the efficient management of Council's water-related services, including drainage, flood, and stormwater assets. This role supports project planning and delivery, ensures compliance with statutory requirements under the Urban Drainage Act 2013 (Tas), and contributes to asset management, community engagement, and emergency response coordination.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and mentoring water-related team members within Engineering
* Managing budgets, resources, and procurement processes
* Coordinating operational plans and works programs for stormwater and drainage assets
* Providing technical input to stormwater modelling, flood mitigation, and waterway improvement projects
* Overseeing asset data management and implementation of Asset Management Plans
* Supporting emergency flood response and risk management activities
About You
We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:
* Mature leadership skills and experience in a team environment.
* Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in Engineering, and substantial relevant work experience
* Demonstrated experience in stormwater management, drainage, hydraulic modelling, or waterway improvement projects
* Knowledge of the Urban Drainage Act 2013 (Tas), flood risk management, and asset planning principles
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret technical data
* Proven leadership and mentoring capability
* Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
* Current Driver's Licence and White Card (Construction Induction)
