About the role
The team at East Kimberley Regional Youth Justice services the towns of Kununurra, Wyndham, Halls Creek, Warmun, Balgo and Kalumburu. The region takes in some of the most picturesque places in outback Australia.
The Youth Justice Services Division is responsible for the safety, security and rehabilitation of young people both in the community and custody. Its core objective is to reduce reoffending among young people through programs and services for young people on orders in the community, and programs and services in custody; services to divert young people away from the criminal justice system. There is travel requirements that come with the position.
Our work involves using research led counselling and intervention techniques to affect positive behaviour changes in young people. The position is based in Kununurra, and you will work in a close-knit team with all members of the team focussed on working with young people and their families to achieve positive results.
Some of the responsibilities of the role include:
* Applying the principles of the Young Offenders Act in the work we do with young people in the justice system.
* Oversee the daily operations of the Centre and case coordination of young people on community-based orders.
* Ensuring the submission of timely court reports.
* Coaching, training, and mentoring of team members.
