Outreach Psychiatrist Job Description
Job Overview:
The Outreach Psychiatrist is a key member of our team, responsible for providing mental health services to rural communities in Central West NSW. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Aboriginal people and contribute to improving their mental wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct psychiatric assessments and provide diagnostic clarification for patients in need.
* Develop and implement personalized treatment plans, taking into account the patient's medical history, cultural background, and personal circumstances.
* Collaborate with local healthcare providers, including Aboriginal Health Workers, mental health workers, psychologists, GPs, and allied health teams, to ensure comprehensive care.
* Provide regular consultations and telehealth support as required, utilizing technology to enhance access to mental health services.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Current registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) or eligibility to apply.
* RANZCP Fellowship (Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists) or RANZCP Fellowship Trainee with supervisor support.
* Or Rural Generalist with mental health advanced skill.

About the Program:
This program aims to address critical service gaps in trauma-informed mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) services for Aboriginal people in Central West NSW. It focuses on implementing a co-designed, culturally safe, holistic, and Aboriginal-led model of mental health and wellbeing care across the region.
