Role description
Southern Cross Care WA Inc. operates and supports three Community Options houses in Western Australia. Community Options is a residential mental health program facilitated in Bentley that offers 24/7 care and support. This is a Night Shift position on a rotating roster. We support residents aged between 18 and 65 who require help following a long‐term stay in hospital due to mental illness.
Responsibilities
* Using the recovery approach, work alongside residents as they re‐learn or gain new skills to live independently in the community.
* Work closely with relevant managers, external primary care & clinical staff.
* Assist with domestic activities such as cleaning, cooking & shopping.
* Monitor & support medication management.
* Support clients to achieve short‐term / long‐term recovery goals.
* Help clients become active community members.
* Identify opportunities for education, training & employment.
About you
You easily relate to and empathise with others and can comfortably support people with complex mental health conditions.
It would be terrific if you have mental health qualifications, but we also welcome applications if you're currently undertaking studies in this field. If required, we'll provide medication competence training. As you gain experience, we will develop the capability to become an Approved Supervisor.
Requirements
* Certificate III in Mental Health, or a higher qualification, or equivalent in experience will guide your success within this role.
* Experience working with people experiencing mental health conditions.
* Commitment to facilitating recovery with individualized support services.
* Initiative & comfortable working independently.
* An ability to plan & problem solve.
* Flexibility to work a rotating roster.
