Mookai Rosie Bi-Bayan (MRBB), founded in the 1980s by Aunty Rose Richards, is a respected Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled health organisation based in Cairns. MRBB provides culturally safe, holistic health services to women and families from Cape York, the Northern Peninsula Area, and the Torres Strait while they are away from home for medical care. Our programs include Mookai Family Health, which delivers comprehensive, culturally safe primary health care through a wrap-around service model, the Health Accommodation Centre, a facility that can house up to 24 women and 12 children, providing a safe and comfortable environment during treatment, the Maternal Health Program, which delivers midwifery, antenatal, postnatal, and doula services; and the Wellbeing Program, which provides mental health, parenting, and advocacy support. MRBB's integrated model of care places culture, community, and client wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
About the role
The Health Program Manager is a senior leadership role, responsible for overseeing health service delivery and coordinating health support to clients in alignment with MRBB's strategic objectives. As a member of the Senior Management Team, the position provides high-level direction, supervision, and coordination of the Health Team, ensuring culturally responsive, efficient, and effective program management. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Health Program Manager plays a key role in driving continuous improvement, stakeholder engagement, and the successful implementation of the organisation's health initiatives. This role oversees Mookai Family Health, the Health Accommodation Centre, and the Maternal Health Program.
Tertiary qualifications in health, public health, community services, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in leading and managing multidisciplinary health teams, including staff supervision, performance management, and team development.
Proven ability to coordinate health programs and services, ensuring effective delivery that meets client needs and organisational objectives.
Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic health initiatives, with a focus on continuous improvement and outcomes-based planning.
Experience in managing budgets, resources, and HR functions within a health or community services setting.
Experience in accreditation processes, and compliance with health service standards and funding requirements.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and reporting requirements in the health sector, including experience in preparing reports for executive and governance bodies.
Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or AHPRA Registration
Current Queensland Drivers Licence
Work hours - Monday to Friday from 08.30am to 4.30pm
Rewarding salary range: $130,000 - $140,000 per annum (based on candidate's qualifications, experience, and knowledge)
