Responsibilities
* Act as the Head of Unit in Mental Health Services, providing leadership and governance for the Unit in collaboration with the Clinical Director.
* Administer the Mental Health Act 2009 within the Unit.
* Maintain a clinical load as required.
* Ensure the provision of clinical care is effective, efficient and safe, working with the Nursing Director and Nurse Unit Manager in day‐to‐day operational management.
* Lead recruitment, rostering, professional development, job planning, line management and supervision of medical staff within the Unit, ensuring teaching commitments are met.
* Ensure appropriate clinical supervision of medical staff allocated to the Unit.
* Direct care responsibility for each consumer to a consultative psychiatrist.
* Make clinical decisions on care when there are conflicting clinical opinions.
About you
* Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration (Psychiatry), or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
* Demonstrated high standard of clinical practice in Psychiatry.
* Demonstrated professional integrity, leadership and motivational skills.
