The Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Farm Operations Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily animal husbandry, record-keeping, property planning, and development strategies.
Our operation spans three holdings covering approximately 1,200 hectares, with Angus cattle stud and commercial operations, as well as dryland lucerne production yielding around 1,500 large bales annually.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in animal husbandry, preferably with experience in cattle (Angus) management. They will also possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
A husband and wife team seeks a highly motivated and astute individual to contribute to the business's growth.
Key responsibilities include:
* Work closely with the owners in preparing budgets and business plans, long-term aims, and goals.
* Manage daily animal husbandry for the cattle herd and their welfare.
* Develop a livestock-breeding program to enhance cattle genetics.
* Create marketing strategies to maximize profit and enhance the livestock's reputation.
* Oversee day-to-day labor, including permanent, casual, and contract workers.
* Develop and implement a pasture improvement program.
* Maintain existing capital improvements and implement new capital works.
* Oversee plant and vehicle maintenance, upkeep, and servicing.
Requirements:
* Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Excel.
* Current ChemCert accreditation.
* Valid Driver's License, including a heavy vehicle license (HC).
* Ability to muster and move stock on bike or quad bike.
* Proficiency in operating tractors and farm machinery.
* Basic skills in arc, oxy, and mig welding.
* Fitness to undertake position requirements, may require external medical report.
