Location: Wingfield, SA
Type: Temp to Perm after 6 months
Pay Rate: $46 - $64 per hour + super
Plenty of overtime on offer
Our client is an Adelaide-based engineering company specialising in steel fabrication and structural erection within both the commercial and residential sectors. With over 30 years of experience, they have completed thousands of projects across Australia. Schedule: Monday – Friday with significant overtime (up to 15–20 hours per week).
Key Responsibilities
* Welding of heavy structural steel trusses, beams, frames, columns, cleats and heavy plates
* Read and interpret technical drawings
* Read drawings and specifications to determine the correct set-up process and welding processes
* Understand industry standards and requirements
* Ensure the quality and accuracy of welds
* Work with hand tools such as hammers, chisels, measuring tools, and weld gauges
* Work with power tools such as buffing wheels, drills, polishers, and grinders
* Align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
* Weld with GMAW and FCAW welding, oxyacetylene cutting equipment and plasma cutting equipment
* Flame heating, bending
* Implement WHS procedures required to complete a job safely, including the use of PPE
Qualifications
* Trade qualification as a Welder or equivalent
* Proven experience in a similar role within a workshop environment
* Proficiency in welding techniques (MIG)
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
* Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects
* Ability to understand and interpret welding specifications independently
* Experience in MIG welding and structural steel fabrication
* Commitment to safe work practices
