The appointee will report to the Discipline Lead, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, at Adelaide Medical School and the Divisional Director (Medical) at the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network. This role encompasses clinical leadership, academic support, and administrative responsibilities across both institutions, requiring a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and clinical practice.
The key responsibilities for this position include:
* Provide leadership in the medical program teaching and evaluation in the Discipline of Obstetrics & Gynaecology
* Teach and supervise students in the medical and health sciences programs in the faculty
* Provide leadership in the development of interprofessional learning
* Provide leadership for teaching and curriculum development of medical students in the Discipline
* Provide a high level of commitment to the strategic plans of the university and faculty
* Liaise and communicate with relevant sections of the community, professional associations, and government organisations
Key responsibilities for the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network include:
Clinical Delivery
Responsible for the provision of an effective and efficient medical service within the objectives and philosophies of the Hospital
- Provision of medical care to hospital inpatients and outpatients, including outpatient clinics, inpatient ward rounds, and theatre sessions
- Meet service requirements of NALHN in both general and high-risk obstetric or gynaecology care, (including participation in the after-hours on-call roster)
Clinical Leadership
Provision of training and supervision to undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees in the Women's and Babies Division
- Encouraging and supporting multi-disciplinary teamwork amongst staff for optimal clinical service outcomes
- Involvement in continuing professional development activities
- Attendance and participation in the clinical meetings of the Hospital
- Adhering to policies, protocols, and procedures as determined by the service or the Hospital that will ensure the provision of a high standard medical practice
- Contribute to the provision of policy advice, evidence-based practices, and leadership in Obstetrics & Gynaecology as required
- Representing the department and the Hospital at community, inter-hospital, regional, and State as required.
Clinical Administration
- Participation in quality, safety, and clinical risk management activities.
- Contributing to clinical review programs to monitor standards of practice and ensure the maintenance of quality outcomes.
