Position Details
You will be employed by Southern NSW Local Health District. The position is primarily located at Goulburn Hospital; secondary appointments within other facilities may occur by mutual agreement.
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Head of Department, General Medicine and Director of Medical Services, you will provide contemporary best‐practice Specialist Physician, General Medicine services for optimal patient outcomes. This includes teamwork with multidisciplinary colleagues to manage resources efficiently.
The General Medicine Department is divided into three teams, each led by a consultant and supported by rotating Basic Physician Trainees or Intensive Medicine Trainees from Canberra Health Services and RMOs. Consultants share on‐call duties and are supported by a separate On‐Call Medical Registrar on site 24 hours a day. This involves regular ward rounds, weekend duties and support for junior medical teams.
You will balance your clinical responsibilities with service development, taking a leading role in clinical governance, service design projects and departmental activities as delegated by the Head of Department.
Active participation in education and training is required: bedside teaching, Grand Rounds, JMO teaching in liaison with the DPET and support for registrars on rotation.
Additional subspecialty expertise in Respiratory Medicine, Cardiology, Peri‐Operative Medicine, Gastroenterology or another sub‐specialty would be an advantage, provided the role is undertaken within an approved scope of practice in conjunction with local physicians.
