Job Description
Position Summary
The WHS, Compliance & Child Safety Officer is responsible for overseeing workplace health and safety systems, safeguarding obligations, organisational compliance, staff competency development, risk management, audit preparation, and quality improvement initiatives across Point Care Pty Ltd. The role promotes a strong culture of safety, safeguarding, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Workplace Health & Safety (WHS)
o Develop and monitor WHS systems, procedures, and safety initiatives.
o Conduct workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits.
o Investigate incidents, injuries, hazards, and near misses.
o Maintain emergency procedures and risk management systems.
* Compliance Management
o Monitor compliance with NDIS Practice Standards and organisational policies.
o Conduct internal audits and support external audit preparation.
o Maintain compliance registers and corrective action plans.
o Ensure policies remain current with legislative requirements.
* Child Safety & Safeguarding
o Ensure compliance with Child Safe Standards and safeguarding obligations.
o Support management of child safety incidents and mandatory reporting requirements.
o Conduct child safety risk assessments across service environments.
o Monitor Blue Card compliance and child safety training requirements.
o Promote trauma-informed and child-safe practices throughout the organisation.
o Support safeguarding investigations and reportable conduct processes.
* Training, Development & Capability Building
o Develop and coordinate WHS, compliance, and safeguarding training programs.
o Monitor mandatory training completion and staff competency requirements.
o Identify workforce skill gaps and recommend development initiatives.
o Assist with onboarding and induction program development.
o Promote continuous improvement and professional development culture.
o Maintain organisational risk registers and mitigation strategies.
o Support operational teams with participant and environmental risk assessments.
o Participate in emergency preparedness and business continuity planning.
Requirements
* Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS, Compliance, Risk Management, Community Services, or related field.
* Minimum 2 years' experience in WHS, compliance, safeguarding, or quality roles.
* Strong understanding of NDIS Practice Standards, safeguarding obligations, and WHS legislation.
* Knowledge of child protection legislation and child-safe organisational practices.
* Experience conducting audits, investigations, and compliance reviews.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and documentation skills.
Mandatory Requirements
* Current Queensland Driver Licence
* Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
