Summary
We're looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to lead yield improvement and root cause analysis. As the Manufacturing Engineer for a Line Replaceable unit at Project, you will be directly responsible for failure root cause and analysis, production process development and improvement of a key module on our next generation spacecraft. You'll be the leading technical voice for a team of manufacturing engineers working on the product, solving challenging technical problems associated with delivering an ultra-high-performing optical, electrical, and mechatronic module to space.
Key job responsibilities
* Serve as a technical lead on failure analysis and non-conformance management.
* Drive yield improvement through process change.
* Support operations team directly by being a high solving power engineer, capable of bringing multiple diverging technical perspectives together in high pressure escalation moments such as quality containments.
Normal day
* 75% of time will be spent on-the production floor working with technician teams to solve all types of technical blockers, from test report reviews, defect material triage, ERP blockers, etc.
* 25% of time will be spent performing independent development work such as performing data analysis on disturbances, improving troubleshoot documentation, etc.
Required Skills
* Familiarity with Low-Rate Manufacturing Environments & New Product Introduction
* Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices & principles
* Experience with Root Cause Analysis Techniques such as Fishbone, Fault Tree, DMAIC, etc.
* Strong analytical skills
* Strong communication and writing skills
* Experience with Optical System Design & Metrology
Preferred Skills
* Experience with Python Programming Language
* Experience with Fiber Optic Systems
* Experience with Statistical Analysis Software such as Minitab
