Job Title
Accountant & Risk Management - Private Health Insurance
Tasmania's oldest private health insurer is seeking an experienced Accountant to play a key role in supporting its financial operations and risk management reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Monthly accounting, cash-flow and budget management/forecasting, attendance to variance analysis, banking, investment and treasury functions as well as associated reporting
* Preparation of statutory reporting, including APRA reporting requirements, and tax compliance requirements (GST, FBT etc)
* Management of accounts payable/receivable functions, as well as bank, fixed asset and general ledger reconciliations
* Manage and deliver requirements for the annual audit, including the preparation of annual financial statements and reports for auditors and the HCi Board
* Coordinate the timely and accurate processing of HCi's payroll and superannuation payments
* Analysing business performance and contributing to strategies that will improve business and financial performance
* Other financial and risk reporting as required by Management or the Board
* Assisting with the administration and maintenance of risk management systems and electronic registers
* Identify and drive process improvements to enable a highly responsive and efficient finance function
Requirements
* Relevant financial accounting qualifications and a minimum 3 years' experience working in a similar role
* Strong analytical ability
* Accomplished MYOB and Microsoft Excel skills
* Ability to work constructively with a small team and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
* A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
* Highly organised with the ability to manage a challenging and varied workload
* High attention to detail and accuracy
* Experience in the profit-for-members and/or private health insurance sectors would be an advantage
