We are looking for a PR & Communications Executive to join our global Communications team.
The role
HFW is seeking an experienced, proactive and team‐oriented APAC PR & Communications Executive to help elevate the profile of the firm and our partners across Asia Pacific. This role will drive proactive, targeted communications across PR, internal communications, social media and marketing content creation.
As part of HFW's global Communications team, the role reports to the Senior Manager, Communications APAC (based in Sydney) and works closely with the Asia Pacific Marketing & Business Development team, as well as partners and lawyers throughout the region.
Strong written communication skills in Simplified Chinese, alongside excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, are essential. Experience in a professional services environment is beneficial but not required for candidates with the right mix of skills and attitude.
Key responsibilities
Media & PR
* Identifying newsworthy stories and media opportunities from across the firm.
* Drafting media releases and other press content.
* Proactively pitching stories to legal and sector journalists and setting up media interviews.
* Preparing interview briefing notes for partners and other spokespeople in advance of media interviews.
* Setting up relationship briefings for partners with key legal and sector journalists.
* Responding to media queries in a timely manner.
* Assisting senior team members to deliver PR campaigns, media placements and HFW-branded content.
* Translating articles from English to Simplified Chinese for media publications.
* Maintaining a journalist contact database and a key messages document.
* Monitoring, collating and circulating media coverage.
Internal comms
* Drafting short stories (client wins, events, team news etc) and other content for our global intranet.
* Proactively identifying story ideas from across the firm for stand‐alone intranet articles or series.
* Assisting to draft staff updates, FAQs, fact sheets and other materials regarding significant projects such as office relocations.
* Assisting with the coordination of staff Town Halls.
Social media
* Managing the firm's WeChat presence and content strategy.
* Drafting and posting content on the firm's LinkedIn and WeChat account.
* Translating proposed WeChat content from English to Simplified Chinese.
* Working with a small group of colleagues from Marketing & BD, Knowledge Management, and the partnership to ensure WeChat content is reviewed and approved before posted.
* Maintaining a WeChat content calendar.
* Maintaining a social media performance tracker.
* Assisting to film brief videos of partners for use internally and on social media
* Drafting and editing firm brochures in English and Simplified Chinese
* Translating brochures from English into Simplified Chinese.
* Briefing our internal Design team on the creative requirements of social media images, brochures, videos, and other comms materials.
General admin
* Contributing to weekly local M&BD reports and monthly global Comms reports
* Maintaining a social media content tracker and media opportunities & coverage tracker
* Developing coverage reports following significant media announcements
* Maintaining an industry awards tracker
* Additional ad hoc admin
Qualifications, key skills & experience
* Bachelor's degree in public relations, communication, marketing or related field.
* Two or more years' experience in public relations, journalism, marketing or related field.
* Excellent Chinese written ability (Simplified Chinese).
* Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience in social media content creation and delivery, particularly WeChat.
* Good relationships with business and legal industry media.
* MS Office skills (including PowerPoint, Outlook, Word and Excel).
* Experience working with SharePoint and Asana preferred.
* Project focused and highly organised with the ability to juggle competing tasks.
* A team player with enthusiasm, confidence and a can‐do attitude.
* Ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
* Experience working in a law firm or other professional services organisation preferred but not essential.
