About the Directorate
Industrial and Employee Relations Directorate comprises two branches: Industrial Relations and Employee Relations. The Directorate is responsible for ensuring compliance with industrial instruments and associated legislative frameworks, supporting effective performance management and providing manager support for discrete human resource matters.
About You
The Director Industrial and Employee Relations report directly to the Executive Director People Services and works across the Education system supporting a workforce of 44,000 FTE, mostly in schools. This role is responsible for providing high level strategic leadership and direction for the industrial and employee relations function.
We're seeking a progressive leader who can think, act and focus strategically, and negotiate and influence in a complex industrial environment. This role suits an experienced industrial and employee relations leader with background in government (state or federal). You'll lead a system-wide industrial and employee relations team providing high-quality workplace and industrial relations advice across the WA Education system.
This includes leading the development and implementation of strategies to manage complex workplace and industrial issues while ensuring the service is aligned and compliant with the strategic direction of the WA Education system and whole of Government objectives. Extensive experience managing industrial relations matters before relevant tribunals, managing risk within a complex industrial relations environment, along with strong influencing and negotiating skills are critical within the role.
