Position 
We have a outstanding opportunity to fill the role of Koorie Student Support Officer at GOTAFE. 
This role provides support in and out of the classroom to Koorie students requiring academic support, with the aim of increasing engagement and creating a culturally appropriate environment. 
Note: This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander designated position, classified under Section 12 Special Measures of the Equal Opportunity Act (2010). 
Responsibilities 
The successful candidate will: 
- Provide academic support to Koorie students in and out of the classroom 
- Enhance Koorie student engagement in learning 
- Contribute to a supportive and culturally secure environment for students 
- Establish relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders 
Qualifications 
- Certificate IV in Education Support / Community Services (or willingness to obtain) or a combination of lesser qualifications and experience 
- Demonstrated experience in providing a supportive and culturally safe environment 
- Understanding of Indigenous communities and ability to identify needs of relevant community groups 
- Understanding of issues encountered by Indigenous students entering formal education settings such as TAFE 
- Ability to establish relationships with key stakeholders 
Requirements 
- A current Police Check (issued within 6 months prior to commencement) 
- A current Victorian Working with Children Check - Employee (or proof of application) 
- A current Driver’s Licence (Car) 
Salary 
The salary is PACCT 4 under the GOTAFE Enterprise PACCT Agreement 2023.
