Overview
The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) plays a critical role in the national transport supply chain and in the overall economic development of Australia. Managing and operating more than 8,500 km of track across NSW, Victoria, SA, WA, and QLD, ARTC owns one of Australia's largest rail network.
About the opportunity
As the Senior Project Engineer, you will support the Area Director in successfully delivering the Inland Rail Program and designated projects within specified timelines, budget constraints and ensuring utmost safety. The role is regionally based in Wagga or Stockinbingal, with an initial period in Sydney until May 2024 before transitioning to an on‐site position. Inland Rail will provide relocation and additional support until project completion in June 2027.
Responsibilities
* Lead coordination with the Design Manager and Technical Service.
* Manage inputs from project engineers for the completion of contractors' design and environmental secondary approvals for the Illabo to Stockinbingal Project.
* Assist in planning and delivery of Inland Rail projects in accordance with ARTC standards on time and within budget.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on contractual, technical and delivery matters.
* Contribute to the development, review and implementation of detailed contractors' Project System and Management Plan.
* Provide quantitative and qualitative reports on project status and performance, including technical evaluations.
* Resolve interface issues between contractors.
* Assist the Project/Area Director and Construction Managers in monitoring and evaluating project performance against KPIs.
* Support preparation of contract documentation and submissions for approvals.
* Aid contract administration (payment claims, variations, etc.).
* Assist in financial forecasting and reports on allocated projects.
About you
* Experience in engineering major projects delivery, construction or project management of track, power systems, civil and signalling systems.
* Strong commercial acumen with client‐side or tier 1 experience managing design and construction contracts.
* Knowledge of work health and safety principles and relevant rail safety legislation.
* Experience in the administration, management and delivery of major infrastructure projects.
* Familiarity with Australian Standards for Track Infrastructure including DDA.
* Demonstrable organisational skills and attention to detail.
* High‐level written and oral communication and presentation skills.
* Degree in civil engineering or equivalent qualifications.
