Qualifications & experience
Previous experience as an estimator in the construction industry is essential.
Experienced in reinforcement, concrete and formwork quantity take off.
Ability to estimate from First Principles.
(preferred but not required)
Familiarity with industry-standard estimating software and tools.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Tasks & responsibilities
Review project plans, specifications and related documents to gain a thorough understanding of the project scope, objectives and requirements.
Utilise estimating software and tools to streamline the estimating process, improve accuracy and enhance productivity.
Conduct a detailed material take-off by quantifying and specifying the types and quantities of materials required for the project, ensuring precise inventory management.
Communicate with suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and quotes for materials and services required for the project.
Ensure that all estimates comply with relevant industry Standards, Codes, and Regulations.
Ensure that all estimates are thoroughly reviewed for accuracy and consistency before submission to the client.
Generate and present detailed cost breakdowns and estimates to project stakeholders, including senior management and clients.
Prepare bid proposals and documents for clients and participate in bid presentations or negotiations, if required.
Assist in the development of project budgets based on cost estimates, ensuring that they align with project goals and financial constraints.
