As a key player in the energy sector, we are seeking an experienced and skilled Analyst to join our Operational Forecasting team. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and continuously improving forecast models for electricity demand, distributed photovoltaics (PV), and variable renewable energy generation central to our market systems in both the National Electricity Market (NEM) and Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM).
About The Role
The Operational Support division plays a vital role in real-time electricity system operations across Australia. You will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of operational forecasting models by managing data, systems, training, assessment, and operational planning advice.
You will work closely with our weather providers and control rooms to translate weather risks into system impacts and ensure operators have the information they need. You will also coordinate across teams and markets to align tools, data, and forecasting processes between the NEM and WEM.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and managing operational forecasting models for electricity demand, rooftop PV, grid-scale solar farms, and wind farms.
* Updating inputs, parameters, and variables to reflect system changes and improve model performance.
* Collaborating with internal stakeholders to integrate forecasting insights into operational advisories, power system incident reviews, and market reports.
* Supporting upgrades of forecasting applications, reform deliveries, and digital enhancements to improve system performance and reliability.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong background in data analysis, statistical modeling, and energy sector operations. Key qualifications include:
* Tertiary qualifications in science, engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or a related statistical discipline.
* Experience in the energy sector or similar industry, preferably in an operations, forecasting, or analytical role.
* Clear and confident communication skills, including experience preparing high-quality reports and presentations to communicate technical information to a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Working knowledge of data analysis and statistical modeling techniques, including PowerBI, Databricks, SQL, and Excel.
As a valued member of our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative solutions that drive business growth and improvement. If you are a driven and results-oriented professional with a passion for energy sector operations, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
