HCA is delighted to partner with our Albany Western Australia client to recruit a Director of Nursing / General Manager for their Day Surgery Hospital.
The Role
The role will be responsible for leading and inspiring the hospital team to deliver outstanding clinical & commercial outcomes as well as patient experiences by ensuring the highest standards of clinical supervision, governance, safety, and operational excellence are achieved.
You will be managing the Day Surgery that consists of 3 pre-operative and 3 post-operative beds, a recovery lounge with 6 chairs, and 1 theatre offering a range of surgical specialties including:
* Ophthalmology
* Minor Procedures
* Urology
* Oral
* Maxillofacial
* Plastic Surgery
This is a key managerial role with the primary responsibility to lead and manage the Day Surgery, focusing on ensuring best practice outcomes for stakeholders, patients, doctors, caregivers, and the wider hospital group. This position is suitable for candidates looking to further their leadership journey while maintaining core clinical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
* Leadership and operational management of the hospital, including managing all nursing, administrative, and support staff within the operating suite, such as perioperative scrub, anaesthetic nursing, and recovery room staff.
* Utilising resources effectively and efficiently to ensure the operating suite operates in line with best practices, policies, and guidelines, while providing patients with appropriate access to elective surgeries in a safe environment.
* Ensuring the service meets financial and operational performance targets and relevant KPIs.
About You
You should demonstrate previous management experience within perioperative services, along with strong organisational, self-management, and conflict-resolution skills. The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical knowledge, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a desire to lead and support others in delivering superior patient care and services.
Additional Requirements
* Minimum of 3 years' relevant clinical management experience in a perioperative suite.
* Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
* Ability to motivate and lead teams.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with various stakeholders.
* Current registration with AHPRA and tertiary qualification.
* A commitment to person-centered, best-practice care.
* Knowledge of Australian National Standards for Safety & Quality.
* Understanding of clinical and non-clinical awards and industrial instruments.
* Capability to undertake a clinical role as needed.
