About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a high‑performing data engineering team on a contract basis.
This role will focus on the design, build, and optimisation of modern data pipelines and platforms, ensuring high‑quality, reliable data is available for analytics, data science, and business intelligence use cases.
You will work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into robust technical solutions, while contributing to the ongoing evolution of the data architecture.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable ELT/ETL data pipelines
* Build and optimise data models within cloud data warehouse environments
* Develop and manage data orchestration workflows to support reliable data delivery
* Implement data quality frameworks and validation checks
* Optimise data pipelines and queries for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
* Work with large, complex datasets including profiling, cleansing, and transformation
* Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand and deliver data requirements
* Contribute to data platform architecture and engineering best practices
* Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory requirements
* Produce clear documentation for data pipelines, processes, and designs
* Troubleshoot and resolve data‑related issues efficiently
The Successful Candidate
You will be a hands‑on, senior‑level data engineer with strong experience working across modern cloud data stacks.
Key experience and skills include:
* Proven experience as a Senior Data Engineer (typically 5+ years)
* Strong hands‑on experience with:
* Snowflake (data modelling, performance tuning, cost optimisation)
* dbt (data build tool)
* Databricks
* Apache Spark (PySpark and/or Scala)
* Strong SQL skills with the ability to write complex, optimised queries
* Proficiency in Python (or similar data engineering languages)
* Experience working with APIs and data integration patterns
* Familiarity with DataOps practices and automated data workflows
* Exposure to machine learning or analytics workloads is desirable
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in fast‑paced environments
