As Chief Operating Officer, reporting directly to the Chief Executive, has overall accountability for delivery exceptional events and management of all venues under the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Trust’s management. As an integral member of the executive team, the COO plays a critical role to formulate the strategic plan and delivery on the Trust’s strategic objective, priorities and metrics, to promote and deliver Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre as the premier venue for both domestic and international events. Working closely with Chief Sales and Customer Experience Officer, and Chief Financial Officer, you are accountable for operating costs management to maximize event delivery margins, labour productivity, efficiency on asset utilization, and identify the investment areas. You will contribute actively to bring the sales strategy to life delivering events. Working collaboratively with other executive members, you will streamline the operating cost of event delivery, uplift the positive net margin, and effectively address the customer feedback with proper responses to their needs.
As a highly regarded Operations leader and a member of a Senior Leadership Team, you have demonstrated experience in the events, hospitality industry or businesses with multiple physical spaces under management. You can build a highly responsive operation to customer needs with customer centricity embedded in the culture. As an inspiring leader, you have a continuous improvement mindset to uplift the capability and knowledge of the team. You have proven experience navigating through periods of change and challenges, and achieved positive outcomes by streamlining processes, uplifting service delivery, optimizing utilization of assets and labour, and effectively set up venues for operational sustainability. When participating in strategic discussions, you engage deeply with data and insights to inform the decision-making process.
