This position offers the opportunity to deliver an advanced, highly skilled Social Work service across a wide spectrum of clinical areas. As a Senior Social Worker, you will work with inpatients, outpatients, emergency presentations, Indigenous health services, tropical medicine, community‐based clients, and frail older people and their carers—as well as providing outreach support to those who need it most.
About us:
The Tablelands and Mossman Allied Health team is a multidisciplinary team of Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Speech Pathologists, Allied health Assistants and an Administration Officer. The team has staff in Atherton, Herberton and Mareeba Hospitals and Mossman Multipurpose Health Service (MPHS), providing acute and sub-acute services to adult and paediatric inpatients and outpatients and outreach services to children and adults. A well-trained workforce is valued with opportunities for participation in a range of professional support and development activities. Staff are committed to providing contemporary, evidence-based practice, and research or project management opportunities may arise.
About you:
In your new role you will......
* Provide high level advocacy to address client need and ensure equity and access to services.
* Provide clinical support and education to less experienced staff as well as students and multidisciplinary staff whilst contributing to education and professional development programs.
* Actively participate in professional education within the work unit and professional team and contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives within the Cairns Hospital, and for the Social Work profession.
About your opportunity:
In this position you will.....
* Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities and professional supervision.
* Contribute to staff development within the Allied Health Team through clinical practice supervision of staff and students, performance appraisal, professional development, recruitment and selection and mandatory training.
* Provide a leadership role in the clinical assessment and intervention planning for service recipients from a Social Work and multidisciplinary team perspective.
