Senior Network Planning Engineer – AusNet
Join AusNet as a Senior Network Planning Engineer to plan and deliver strategic solutions that keep our network, customers, and communities ahead in a rapidly changing energy landscape.
You will work within the Distribution Network Strategy & Planning team, with a hybrid split between Southbank and WFH.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive planning processes to assess long- and short-term network capabilities, identify emerging issues, and create solution and contingency plans.
Plan augmentation of the network to maintain bushfire safety compliance with Rapid Earth Fault Current Limiter (REFCL) technology.
Lead Development of Distribution Loss Factors, fault level forecasts, and development plans for HV and LV networks; contribute to demand and energy forecasts.
Manage delivery of current and emerging non-network solutions that reduce network demand and generation to avoid or defer investment.
Apply advanced commercial acumen, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory knowledge to identify appropriate solutions.
Qualifications
Relevant qualification and experience in Engineering.
Experience with contemporary electricity network planning, asset management practices, and market operations.
Proficiency in electricity network analysis tools such as Sincal, PSS/E, PowerFactory, or PSCAD.
Demonstrated project management from conception to implementation across multiple projects.
Sound knowledge of National Electricity Rules, energy markets, and relevant legislation.
Desirable experience with primary plant, network protection, and control devices, including functional design, testing, and commissioning of special protection schemes.
