System Administration Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive System Administration Specialist to join our team servicing a Commonwealth client within the National Intelligence Community.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of servers and systems to ensure high availability and security of the business applications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Install, configure, and maintain Windows, Linux, and Unix servers and systems.
* Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues across multiple platforms.
* Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
* Perform regular system backups and recovery procedures.
* Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
* Maintain system security through access controls, firewalls, and antivirus software.
* Automate routine tasks using shell scripts, PowerShell, or other scripting tools.
* Collaborate with network engineers, developers, and other IT staff to support infrastructure needs.
* Document system configurations, procedures, and changes.
* Provide 24/7 support for critical systems as needed (on-call rotation may apply).
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* 3+ years of experience in system administration across Windows, Linux, and Unix platforms.
* Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
* Proficiency in shell scripting, PowerShell, or Python.
* Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
* Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
* Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
