About The Role
As Director, you'll oversee service delivery, strategic planning, and team leadership while ensuring Aboriginal children remain connected to culture, family, and community. You'll work alongside passionate professionals committed to self-determination and culturally responsive practice.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership for Western Division operations and servicesManage budgets, compliance, and quality assurance across programsBuild strong partnerships with government, community organisations, and stakeholdersLead and support multidisciplinary teams delivering child protection and family servicesChampion Aboriginal cultural protocols and self-determination principlesDrive continuous improvement and evidence-based practice
About You
Extensive experience in the child and family welfare field, the provision of services to statutory clients or a related area, and a sophisticated understanding of current issues and awareness of future directionsExtensive experience and a proven track record on the successful management, delivery and evaluation of programs in the child and family welfare fieldProven ability to develop VACCA unique project responses to enhance Aboriginal child and family community service policy and practice and quality improvement areasDemonstrated capacity to negotiate and work constructively with funding bodies and other stakeholders and represent the organisation to a variety of stakeholdersStrong working knowledge of relevant legislation, social and government policy and evidence based research along with the capacity to inform government polices to enhance the wellbeing and safety of vulnerable Aboriginal community membersDemonstrated capacity to ensure compliance requirements across the portfolio areas are metDemonstrated capacity to balance the requirement for consultation and collaboration with timely decision-making and appropriate leadershipExcellent time management skills with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple complex demands and achieve key outcomes .
Requirements
Degree qualification in Social Work or a relevant area is preferred.Highly developed leadership, management and team development skillsValid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
